Omar Tood
Omar Jibril Abdulkadir, known as Omar Tood, is a machine learning engineer and AI researcher. He works on large language models, agentic systems, and natural language processing for Somali.
Omar is an instructor and researcher at Goobo Labs, an open Somali AI research lab. His work there includes SomNLP-Corpus, the largest open Somali text corpus.
Somali is spoken by more than 20 million people and remains almost absent from the data that trains modern AI. Closing that gap is the work.
Omar studied Computer Science at Jamhuriya University and completed an MSc in Artificial Intelligence at Hormuud University. He lives in Mogadishu, Somalia.
